So you're ready to get involved with LEJ? The first step is to download the LEJ Youth Internship Application (PDF).

After you fill it out, either
  • Bring it to our office at 800 Innes (directions below);
  • Fax it to us at (415) 282-6839;
or
  • Mail it to us: LEJ Intern Application, 800 Innes Ave., SF CA 94124.
We will call you for an interview when we’ve had a chance to review your application.

MUNI:
The 19 Polk Street has a stop across the street from our office; get off at the corner of Innes and Arelious Walker Dr./Fitch Street.
From Third Street:
Turn south on Evans Avenue. Evans becomes Hunters Point Blvd. as you pass the power plant. Bear left onto Innes Ave. 800 Innes, Unit 11 is a storefront with the LEJ logo on the window.

How To Get a Work Permit
All interns under 18 years of age are required by California state law to have a work permit to work for LEJ. Work permits must be renewed at the start of each school year and at the start of the summer.
To get your work permit, you'll need the following:
  • Your signed request for a work permit, dated within the past 5 days
  • Your Social Security card
  • Proof of age (birth certificate, California ID card, driver's license, or passport)
  • Valid school ID (for current school year), or printout of current school schedule
